The names of John's children,the pictures and dates were provided to me by one of his descendants - "Buck" Emmert. He and his wife live in Iowa.
They were very helpful to me with this family line.
They contacted me through email after finding my files on the Internet.
They both, inexplicably "disappearred" (from their email address) and I have not been able to contact them since 2002.

Letter dated 28 Feb 1918 from P.R. Emmert (Dewitt, Iowa) to Mrs. Wm. Cathers (Queensville, Ind.)

Dear cousin: Your letter received and sorry to hearof your father's death but we must all take the trip some day and only hope we may be as well prepared as your father was.

My father's name was John A. Emmert, Born October 3rd, 1829 in Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany,
died May 8th, 1910 - Age 81.
Was in Mexican War 1846-1848 in Company E. of first Regiment Louisana Volunteers and was a
half brother to your father as I always understood him.

Enclosed, find notice as they made it in our paper.

As for my family there is my wife, Pheobe, daughter, Lillian E. Thompson of Milan, Illinois and Everette A. Emmert at home with me.

As for myself I was born right here on the lot where I live March 2, 1856 and will be 62 years old Saturday when all my family will be together as we have always been on my birthday.

My father's name was John A. Emmert, Born October 3rd, 1829 in Kingdom of Bavaria, Germany,
died May 8th, 1910 - Age 81.
Was in Mexican War 1846-1848 in Company E. of first Regiment Louisana Volunteers and was a
half brother to your father as I always understood him.

When he was 19 he went in the Air Force and was stationed in Germany for 5 years (I think) He was discharged at Kingsley Field Air Base in Klamath Falls Oregon in 1960. After being raised in West TX he loved the High mountains of Oregon so he stayed. He loved the outdoors and went to work for the U.S. Forest Service in Mt. Hebron Ca. Which is only about 30 miles From Klamath Falls OR. In 1965 he Married Linda Gladys Ross daughter of Climmie Eldred Ross and Pearl Leola Story . In 1969 he moved back to Klamath Falls Oregon and went to work for the city Fire Dept. Where he retired in 1988 with a bad heart condition.
